Secondment

The temporary assignment of an employee from their permanent employer to another organization within Saudi Arabia.

Secondment in Saudi Arabia is a formal arrangement in which an employee is temporarily assigned to work for a host organization while remaining employed by their original employer. The arrangement must be documented in a formal secondment agreement setting out the duration, responsibilities, cost allocation and which employer bears payroll and compliance obligations. Secondments are commonly used in joint ventures, group company deployments and government-linked projects. Immigration considerations are important — the employee's Iqama and profession code must be reviewed.
